The arm has a spring that holds the blade flat against the windshield: step 1, pull up on the arm: step 2, move the locking tab outward from the shaft, and then pull the arm upward off the shaft. Here are pics of the backside, first with the tab in the "locked" position, and then in the position which allows the arm to be pulled off the shaft: the locking tab can only be moved to the unlocked position with the arm tilted upward. Pretty neat system.

That's for the passenger side , but the drivers has that arm that keeps the wiper straight with the A pillar . My locking tab is busted and it keeps that arm in place . Gravity is keeping it there for now .

Gravity is keeping it there for now . Good point; the arms install/remove the same way, but they're not the same part number. Here's a pic with the hood off, showing that the driver-side arm has that lower control rod. thanks, arthur
