I was recently invited to have my car at a rather large convention over in Orlando, FL. Awesome. But at the same time, most movie car replicas have other props and things to make them more authentic.
So! I ask you, fellow forum dwellers - when you attend a car show/convention/event, how do you like to trot your car around? Do you spit shine it up real nice? Leave it as dirty as can be? Carry any props with you? Anything special?
My plan is to wash the exterior (which will be the first time since I painted it, lol), but leave the interior littered with soda cans, empty bags, and cigarette packs.
As for something special, I've installed a speaker in the grill, and plan to play various concert/SNL recordings, and some snippets from the movie (mainly the best one liners, and of course Elwood's spiel).
I'm also considering doing a build book of the process of building the car, though I think it would be lost on the con-goers.
I came across a pair of fiberglass Blues Brothers (literally, two sets of 'em), but the seller wants a pretty penny and is very firm on price (ie, doesn't want to get rid of them me thinks)... so that's unlikely to happen.
So! What do you do?

I leave them dirty! I actually took GREAT pleasure at a show I went to this past summer watching a super shiny late-60s Camaro pull up, and the owner gets out and starts wiping the car down to get all the road dirt off... while I hope up onto the hood of the Bluesmobile, lean back against the windshield and set my drink down on the hood next to me. Ah, freedom.....

I just came across the announcement about your car at MegaCon: www.megaconvention.com/view/announcements/Very cool! As far as a display, I would suggest... -Trash on the dashboard (but be careful not to over do it) -A black, Elwood style brief-bag on the passenger or rear seat. - (Optional) sandwich board, or framed poster, displayed in front of the car. Enough to explain what the car is, without the use of spoken words, but at the same time, not an overwhelming display. I tend to find that large books with tons of photographs and lengthy descriptions tend not to be actually read by con goers. (no matter what the display is... car or otherwise) If you go for using a book, I'd keep it on the small side. Perhaps a 3-ring binder with only a few pages inside (if any book at all). Of course these are only opinions. Have fun, MegaCon looks to be a good time.

Shucks guys, thanks. I totally forgot about my briefcase... I found a brown one and dyed it black with leather dye, got some handcuffs and extended em. I even have the key on a chain! Kinda silly of me to forget about it. It'll definitely be strung up in there, somewhere. For the build book, I was thinking three ringed binder with just a few pages of the work that went in to it. But I'm probably going to just skip that this time around. I love that it's dirty... and supposed to be! My buddy says I need to wash it, but I kinda want it dirty as dirty can be, for authenticity sake. That being said, I'm probably gonna wash it this weekend and let it collect for the next month or so, instead of having the six month-caked-on dirt. Or even do as fellow owners have done and spray it down with WD-40 and hit some dirt roads. The latter sounds more fun. I'm also going to be sporting the giant speaker up top... and be with the car every once and a while. I'm super excited about a costume I've been wanting to do for years: Samurai Delicatessen! I'm still very interested in what everyone does with their cars, so if you do something different, post it here!
