If you do decide to bid and win this car, I can recomend a first class shipping company. I've used them 8 times to ship vehicles from all over the U.S with zero issues. Plus their prices are very reasonable!! Excellent Cheers. Fancy pming me the details so I could start making enquiries? I need to find a safe way of paying too? Hopefully Sent from my phone

Out of curiosity, what does it cost to ship a car over seas? I'd imagine that it must be really expensive.

Out of curiosity, what does it cost to ship a car over seas? I'd imagine that it must be really expensive. Depends on value of car, where it is as it obviously costs to get it to a port before shipping. So far I've been getting quotes of about £2000 GBP all in so about $3000 USD? My issue is finding a safe way of paying the seller without them running off with my money Hopefully Sent from my phone

If I was going to spend $3,000 to get a Monaco shipped I would look for the best one I could find, preferably rust free, a sedan and if at all possible a 440 (either installed or a real DK41U). I think you're better off spending more money for a better car in the long run. As for payment use paypal, it might cost you 5 cents on the dollar but there is some protection there for the buyer. Just my 2 cents, Adam

I think if it's still available you'd be better off with this one, the owner could hook you up with the parts to finish it and assemble it to whatever extent you want, I honestly wouldn't waste over $5,500 on a rotted, non-police package car, at least with this car it's a valuable car when done. bluesmobiles.proboards.com/thread/1137/1974-monaco-police-connecticut

I know what your saying BUT any American car here in uk is a bit of a novalty, be it a real ex police car or plain old lump of everyday rustbucket worth $500. It's not an everyday car and will only be used for cruising and shows so the 360 isn't much of an issue. Yes a 440 would be nice but our gas prices are about 3 times the price of yours I think. Plus my budget is way too small for a decent blumo so I'll have to take what I can get Hopefully Sent from my phone

It says I have to log in to view thread. It's ok I looked and found it anyway and tbh that car is WAY beyond my skills and budget. That's why I'm looking for something that's at least running to start with. Superficial bodywork isn't much of a worry to me but I don't fancy fitting engines and interiors just yet.

Your skills must be much better than mine! Personally I'd rather bolt a few things down than have to worry about sourcing New metal and cutting and welding New pieces in!

The guys you need to call ref shipping are Kingstown shipping of Hull (01482) 374116. When I brought my monaco over from north carolina in 2008 it cost me £850 to ship via new york on a RO-RO service (roll on, roll off). Only vehicles that run/drive/stop can go ro-ro, otherwise it's container only, which at the time was around £1200, all plus vat. Be warned though with ro-ro you aren't allowed any extra parts loose in the vehicle. No gas in the tank either, other than for loading purposes. It helps no end if you can arrange with the seller of whatever vehicle you buy to write you a bill of sale for a bit less than what you paid as when the car lands here you will get collared 20% vat on all the transport costs plus 10% duty on the cars purchase price PLUS VAT!!! TAX ON TAX!!! Love it. My monaco was put down as 750 dollars for this reason . You will need a title too, it can be done without but as usual the fun starts when you get this side of the water, a title is lots easier even if you have to get one in the U.S first. Don't let anything put you off importing though, as long as you know what you are buying, it's great fun. Always expect more work and more issues than the seller says about!! I found such wonders with my monaco as the steering idler held on with coat hanger wire, rear brake line hammered shut due to leaking wheel cylinders, 6 out of 8 cylinders with SOME compression, other 2 with none, bald tyres, bad wheel bearings, shot brake rotors/pads. But this was more than made up for with the lack of any rust anywhere on the car.

I did a money order via my bank. At the time it cost £7 plus a postage. Works a bit like a cheque but no clearance time.
