King-of-the-hill, the 1974 Canadian "Monaco Special", unmarked RCMP car, now a rocking bluesmobile: bluesmobiles.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=gotopost&board=information&thread=124&post=998has this nifty alternate mounting position for the rear door lock pulls: so the rear passengers can't unlock the door, and the front passengers can lock/unlock the door by opening the front door which gives access to the front area of the rear door. It would be an understandable option for an unmarked car. Most of the time they just want a regular car, with regular door lock operation, but sometimes they might want to transfer a criminal and have the door "child proofed". I haven't heard of this option before, except on this car. I don't see a fender tag code for it, or a discussion of it in the fleet option list in the 74 Monaco police brochure. But it looks factory. Hey thats cool...have you checked for a bump out or placement location on yours? All I could find are the weld marks.....it wouldn't be hard to duplicate. I'm wondering if the RCMP was used for some special detail or perhaps juveniles...

Hey thats cool...have you checked for a bump out or placement location on yours? All I could find are the weld marks.....it wouldn't be hard to duplicate. Hi Ford: I'm sorry, I'm not following you. Sorry I meant a spot where it would have gone. The marks I found are from the door and the panel assembly.
I found that the same setup was on some of the earlier non-electric lock Fords Cown Vics too. They seem to be shop installed item. I had replies on CC that same setup was on Diplomats, 91 Ford, 95-96 chevy's... were talking about Ca., Indiana, Fl. Il, & RCMP.

I think king-of-the-hill's alternate door lock pull location is just a hole in the front of the rear door. I don't know why there would be any extra identifying marks or such. Here's a pic of my door; I'm guessing this looks the same as a standard civilian door:

At the 74-77 c-body information annex I read in the Dodge Trailer/Towing 1974 brochure that read child-proof locks were available. Surely this is the same as king-of-the-hill's criminal-proof locks. So this wouldn't be a police-specific option. But I'll leave it in this category until we know for sure. I don't see anything about child-proof locks in the 74 monaco body manual. It must have been a rare option. Super-rare, as it's not listed in the option price guide (posted at . How would one order it?
