I can see how the bezels are different with the wood trim, but what about the other length of the dash (above the glove box and under the A/C vents and dash on the passenger side) Were those "wood" trim pieces that woul just come off, or are there plain black inserts that go in their place?

Hi Legendary: I moved your post from the cop radio-delete bezel to here. It's hard trying for me to figure out where things best belong, but it seemed a better fit here, so I hope you don't mind me moving it. It looks like: civilian metal bracing = cop metal bracing + a wood grain panel that is attached. So to cop-ilate your civilian metal bracing, just remove the plastic trim with the wood grain on it. above two, 76 parts car above, marin county above, cop fury The cop fury bracing is different than monaco bracing (fury doesn't have passenger cigarette door - and even the glove box latch looks different in the pics above), but the lack-of-wood-paneling setup seems the same.

That seems straight-forward enough, and I have no problems with y threads being moved around, I also had no idea where best to post, so this works for me. One more question, how is the plastic trim mounted? Is it just plastic clips that I could snap off, or are there studs with nuts behind them?

I hate fake wood. Is easier to paint over it or just rip it off?

The fake-wood panel has studs that stick out the back, that go through the bracing, that have nuts on them. So it looks easy to just remove the nuts, then pull the trim out.
The resulting metal bracing won't look exactly like cop bracing, as it will have four holes in it (for the studs), and the cop bracing doesn't have those holes. So you could fill the holes, but for most purposes, I don't think anyone will notice or care about the holes.

Just a little FYI; the pattern you refer to as "Psychedelic" is actually a "Burled" or "Burled Grain" pattern to the rest of the world.

I painted the plastic wood trim strip in my car black to match the speedometer surround since it was black. I like having the trim piece installed and painted because it matches up flush with the ashtray next to it, and doesn't leave any open attach holes.
