How's she goin' there, buds? I've been on and off this board fairly often, lurking and trying to find good lines to parts and info and have come back with invaluable information, but I realized: I don't recall if I've ever posted about my Bluesmobile on here! So here she is: A 1976 Royal Monaco that was converted to a 74 with a front clip, got a 440 powerplant and a sur-grip 9.25 rear with 3.23 gears from an Imperial donor, and LOTS of rust from the good ol'salt belt of Canada! Currently shes out of commission due to a snapped torsion bar and a cracked extension housing, but shes slowly coming together and I hope to have her back on the road shortly! However, I will be painting it and it will no longer be a Bluesmobile.. small town police in my area don't quite get the appeal of a car with police-style markings on it and I've gotten some grief over it for the time that I've had it, really kept me from properly enjoying it, so its with a heavy heart that I've come to this conclusion

- Gidday fellow Hoser, how she go? So is your car completely blue now? I like the blue but I'll be honest, it saddens me that the the damn screws made you do that. Although we've heard this insanity before. We have a member in Indiana where the screws hated his Blumo so much he ended up selling it. He shared pics with us he took from inside his house looking out at a cruiser parked on his street, they would sit and wait for him to go for a drive. Damn screws.
Anyhoo, your Blumo was quite screen accurate would ya say? A true sedan, no vent windows, I don't see fender mount turn signals, correct taillights, middle D missing from fuel door, bumperettes removed front and rear, splash of primer, turn signal lens removed, no letters on header, 440 motor ... its all good !! The rendering has a passenger mirror, does the car have a passenger mirror? If someone offered you $10,000 would you take it?
And ... you're a Ken Block fan?
Thanks for posting the pics.
* I suppose when I say screws I'm maybe referencing some old Cagney movie, lol, that's what they called the prison guards but I use that term only for cops who abuse regular folks for driving a Blumo. I do respect the police, it's the screws I don't like. lol
Nope, no passenger side mirror on mine, slightly off-tan interior (looks like faded pea green mixed with beige if I'm honest), Canadian Tire rubber flooring that I cut and heated to shape a somewhat accurate carpet! Once it's done in the blue I have in mind, I'm holding onto her until my last breath, the sentimental attachment to this car is unreal, even $10k wouldn't be hard for me to turn away!
Was wondering when someone would mention the "Hoonigan" sticker, I also have a blue California style yellow letter plate that says "H00N1GAN" that's going to be placed up front
Well all-righty then. That gets me thinking about a Charlton Heston quote ... hmmm ... Lol.
Regarding the member from Indiana mentioned above, SCMODS, he started a thread about the coppers bugging him about his Blumo. It's quite a thread back from 2011. This is the pic I referenced about the cruiser(s) parked near his lane ...
Here is the view of my lane going to our home. Same view I have had for 2 days. You will see a county Sheriff and a city patrol car staking out our neighborhood. They are there for several hours a day and my neighbors are sure I am a drug dealer.
He grew too weary of the B.S. and the Blumo went to daBay with his plan being to move from Santa Claus, Indiana. Haha yeah that's where it happened, happy Santa Claus, Indiana. Nice lookin' Blumo (This one was not the rust bucket he slapped together with bondo).
Yeah thats the real pic of the car as it sits, I re-checked the colour the guy in the autoparts store gave me, I believed the colour I picked out was B5 but I was mistaken, it's closer to a semi-gloss version of B3 Basin Street
