I'm looking for a 74 Monaco sedan in/around California. Basically anything in the $1000 or less range. I have a 440 and 727 trans on hand so it doesn't have to run at all, in fact it would probably be best if it didn't. The cheaper the better!
Keep your eyes peeled and let me know if you see anything!

Do you want it to look like Swiss cheese? If so, then $1,000 might do it! But seriously, 74 monaco sedans are super rare now. If you really want to get your hands on one, you’re gonna have to stand tall and throw more money around.

If you really want to get your hands on one, you’re gonna have to stand tall and throw more money around. Whitey was from southern CA, 1/4 of an inch of paint and a trashed dash and door panels but solid as a rock with a reman engine and a fresh trans rebuild and was $1,500. They do pop up here and there the problem is beating the crowd to them. None of the 5 Monaco's I have bought so far have cost over $1,500 and only one is in "parts car" condition, it's also the only car from the northeast. My advice would be don't rule out a Royal and doing a nose swap or fender capping, they are easier to find.

Project/parts car condition would be just fine with me, I actually would love to put the work into fixing one up. The one in Florida for $600 would've been great, the guy just didn't want it any more.
I really have my heart set on a 74 and I think I'd have problems getting royals past smog... I'm pretty optimistic about finding one. I do see Monacos pop up now and again, usually in a condition I could manage.

No, Louisiana. She is a basket case so off the crusher after we strip the remaining good stuff. No longer a roller as we moved the K car stuff to BLUE-TOO

My '75 Gran Fury 440 has an air pump and cats but nothing els different than a '74 or a non-CA car and it was a CA car originally . How old of a car out there has to go thru smog tests? Doesn't CA have any kind of exemption for antique or collectible cars? Some of the nicest Bluesmobiles out there aren't '74s, I believe the Texas Bluesmobile is a '77, the London Bluesmobile (my personal favorite) is a '77, Countrybunker's is a '75 and several others.

Being a 74 is just a personal obsession with me. I know it makes it harder for me, but you never know what could happen and I won't find out unless I throw it out there. If someone can't keep or doesn't want their 74 Bluesmobile anymore, but they want it to go to a good home, even if you have a "project car", not much more than a frame, that would just take too much time, parts, or work, I'm your guy. I will put the work into a it, even if it takes me years. I figure if I take a ratty, bare, 74 body and patch it up, I can accumulate parts from 75-77's to complete it. The 74 VIN is pretty crucial to me though.

I re-read it and thought you meant the Monaco was off to the wrecker. Looking at the pics again I see the Monaco was the same one you Bluesmo'd

I have no paper work on my parts car but when I'm done if you want the carcass with the VIN tag you can have it. The car is a '74 base sedan, originally a 400 2BBL, brown with a tan gut. There won't be much left except some rust door shells, rotted frame rails, sub frame, and floors, and a rotted firewall and cowl with a a VIN tag. It might not be until next year that I'll have it stripped though, depends on how smooth my summer goes.

How much do you want for it? How far gone is it? do you have pics?
