I'm wanting to do a Scratchbuild Bluesmobile for an R.C. Car I have in 1:18 Scale....
I can get photos and pictures of the Car well enough to allow me to make it, but what I could use are pictures of what it would have looked like *before* the weathering, so that I can get *that* kind of detail as accurate as possible (well, at least as accurate as *my* skills will allow) *before* thinking about trying to weather it
Heck....if I like the way it looks 'new', I may leave it like that....what do people think?
Incidentally, this is a future Project, as I'm currently working on another such Car (the Yellow Interceptor from Mad Max, to go with the Black one I've already made), and as such, am just gathering information/pictures in the meantime :-)

Thanks for that :-) I also managed to get in contact with The Mount Prospect Police via their Facebook, and they sent me these: Attachments:

Well, I've finished constructing my Bluesmobile (to the best that my skills will allow, anyway), and now up to the painting stage....
I've worked out the 'TO SERVE AND PROTECT' and the 'P1' to the size I need, and have more-or-less worked out the Star on the door to the size I need, and the Licence Plate to the size I need as well, but, I need help with what the numbers are towards the back - 5-4131?
Also, the wording on the back of the Boot....POLICE 173?
Are there any other words or numbers it would have?

Does this help any? I made these a while back I have that one (don't know where I found it), and have used it for size reference :-) Would it be possible to get the numbers on the top right, and the number at the bottom middle a bit clearer, so I can read what they are? For example, do the numbers on the top right say '5-4131', and is the number at the bottom middle '173', or something different?

I'm pretty sure its 178 on the trunk, the rest of 5-4121 or 5-4131 is up to interpretation because every picture I've seen, including the flip model (what I suspect was also used as a paint reference model), had the numbers completely erased except for the : - shape on the drivers side.

May I ask what RC chassis you used? I've tried to turn my ERTL Bluesmobile into an RC car before but could never find a good RC chassis

May I ask what RC chassis you used? I've tried to turn my ERTL Bluesmobile into an RC car before but could never find a good RC chassis Sure :-) For the Base Car for the majority of my Car Projects, I use the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 from Target Australia www.target.com.au/p/4-channel-remote-control-car-assorted/P60474193From there, after finding what picture I can use online and enlarging/shrinking by photocopier accordingly to the size I need, I discard the Lamborghini Body, trim the front and/or back of the Chassis as I might need to, and then start making the Body for whatever Car I want to try to make - in this case, the Bluesmobile - out of Balsawood....including the windows (mostly because the ones supplied aren't really suitable, but also, because I lack the skills to make them out of plastic myself) As my painting skills aren't as good as I would like them to be, if there are any stripes or words or whatever that needs to be included, I try to find a picture of it online and import it into Word and enlarge/shrink it accordingly, and try to match the Font of whatever wording might be used as well (in this case, the 'Monaco'), cut those out, trim them as best I can, and glue them on after painting :-) If it helps, the Wheelbase for the Lamborghini is 149mm with the Rear Wheel at 38mm and the Front Wheel at 36mm, and the Wheelbase for the AUDI R8 Gt that is part of that range, is 147mm with both Wheels at 37mm

Just a thought....the number at the top right of that picture you did, flcl64, the 5-4121 or 5-4131 or whatever it is, looks like it might be a Phone Number....
Would anyone know what the Contact Number for Mount Prospect Police was in 1974?

Would anyone know what the Contact Number for Mount Prospect Police was in 1974? It's the phone number, but it's fake. I checked and it doesn't match Mt. P police.

I've almost finished painting it, and will be applying the wording and numbers soon after....any more suggestions as to the numbers before I do so?

I've almost finished painting it, and will be applying the wording and numbers soon after....any more suggestions as to the numbers before I do so? I would suggest painting in layers. Paint the darkest parts of what's left of the decals first, then kinda fill the splotches in halfway with the lightest shades to replicate wear and tear. Do the reverse on the white doors for the star, start with the lightest then fill in parts with black afterward. Maybe you could wetsand with very fine grit sandpaper over just the decals. Good luck! (Ps. The texture file I made before is not to scale, they were just the size I took from screen caps. For size reference, here's some screen caps. s1067.photobucket.com/user/SpeedDeMonaco/slideshow/Bluesmobile )

Thanks :-) I started (after Primer, of course) with the White, and the Silver for the Bumper Bars, and then did the Black, which included the Bull Bar.... Right now, I'm working on the touch-ups :-) The Wording and the Numbers I've done in Word, and have imported the Star there as well, and have *hopefully* managed to print them to the correct size....will find out in due course, I guess When that time comes, I'll be trimming them as I need to (especially the Star), and gluing them on with PVA Glue Will post Photos when I've finished :-) Is there a Size Limit for the Photos here, or do I need to post a Link for them ala Photobucket or Flickr?
