For those that have taken apart their speedometers, what material is the face made from? Is it a plastic? metal?
I am seriously considering trying to find someone that will make me a small batch of reproduction Certified 14o Speedometers.

A while back I spoke with "Bob's Speedometer Shop" in Howell, Michigan. I had explained this very situation and was informed they could reproduce the speedo faces. www.bobsspeedometer.com

It was a while back, but I seem to remember the quote being in the couple- few hundred dollar range. I also remember talking with several speedo/ gauge restoration shops and this being the only one to almost instantly say "no problem!" .
Another, realativly inexpensive alternative may be to scan a speedometer face, prep it in photoshop, have it printed and cut on a decal sheet and apply that to a appropriately shaped piece of frosted plexi.
( or perhaps a frosted decal sheet and clear plexi )

Thanks bud. I'm hesitant to send the face anywhere! I don't want to mail it to a place....

If you find a place to make them, I’ll take two....one for a 74 and the other certified for a 77 royal monaco!

This one fell into my lap, so I'll be using this one to take apart, clean, and scan. Once digitized I'll play with the numbers to make the zero's small like the '74's and go from there. I feel more comfortable taking apart this one instead of my NOS '74 cluster.

Wow. 74 reproduction circuit boards. Never would have thought that would be a real thing. Nice research Steam.
