We will be campaigning the Louisiana Bluemo in this years OR next years Great Race. Check Great Race website for dates and stops. This years race is from Jacksonville to Traverse City over a nine day period in late June. We were planning to use a rare 1966 4 door FBI hemi Coronet (650 HP) this year as it is ready to roll. The La. Blumo has just been tested and could make the trip as well. We have outfitted with a Yamaha sound system and a "lunch box' Honda generator hanging on the bumper. A little "trash on the dash", we just might use it. Thanks Nice board.
Of course, we would like a 74 K code if any out there.

Just incredible that "Big Daddy" Don Garlits is the Grand Marshall for the race this year. I actually didn't know he was still alive but he sure is, 85 years old now. There were 2 posters I distinctly remember having in my room as a youngster in the 70's. And I mean before the Farrah poster But the two were of Don "The Snake" Prudhomme and "Big Daddy" Don Garlits. In hindsight they both sound like they could have been 1970's porn star names lol. But these guys drag raced and for sure I was a Don Garlits fan even up in rural Canada way back then. Amazing. I hope you get to meet him, a true legend.
June will be here before you know it. Ironically, Mr. Gartlis has the other FBI 4 door 66 Hemi Coronet in his museum. They only made four. Ours is certainly not mint but mechanically very sound and I think he would love to see it. BUT the Great Race Director as well as the Reliable Carrier folks (sponsors)have asked that we run the Bluemo. They have never had anything like that ever and I have seen some weird stuff. Jonathan did a lot of good things to the car and it's straight with no rust. I will start a thread over in the owner section with some pictures. Hope it gets some sightings between Jax and Traverse City.
OK we went over the whole car, cleaned under carriage with Cajun Brown and pressure washed. Ospho treatment and 2 cans of undercoat and it's a wrap. Checked all ball joints, tie rods, idlers and wheel bearings. Brakes and tires were new as advertised, NO RUST HOLES on car!!!!. Changed ujoints just to be safe. Overhauling tranny for the same reason. It worked but did not trust it for a cross country outing. Strengthened the speaker by boxing frame with aluminum angle and metal straps with all thread at each bulkhead. It Ain't coming off. We can now place on the roof a Yamaha speaker system for Blues Brothers music at each stop. Installed a 110v invertor, battery in trunk and solar charger Velcro in back window to run DJ system. Played 12 hours before low voltage warning. Good stuff. Working on painting jams and truck lid bottom etc. Made a post car out of it with white duct tape. LOL Cold AC and a working cigarette lighter. Would like better stencils for the fender stuff. Here is a few pics

We are done. Put in a new MSD ignition and pulled the metering rods in the TQ carb. She is a smooth running sled (0 to 50 in 9.5 seconds)but should have fun on rally. Reliable picks up on the 15th-ish to ship to Jacksonville so hope to meet some of you on the route. I just won Bowling Green Hemi Shootout 0 to 160 8.45 sec! Can not wait to meet Big Daddy!!! Jake
OK this thing is getting some traction. (pun) Just finished a 2 hour photo shoot in a muddy rock quarry and under a big I-10 bridge with abandoned warehouses in the background. Will be cover story in the June Lagniappe magazine. She is REAL muddy now. Poor Reliable Carrier guys!!! Jake
Jacksonville or BUST. Feeling very special as we are the only thing in the trailer due to over height. Will be staged with 120 other cars in Jax until we tech inspect Thursday. I hope they like LOUD blues music. Phish
The K doner in the background has come in handy. The 9.25 axle (3.23 pos) assembly is sandblasted and ready for rebuild. Machine work on the HP E code 440 is complete and will assemble after flood cleanup. The Penguin sits too high so I cut down the doner car seat base and will recover to match exist seat back. That should lower her enough. The Firm Feel suspension stuff is awesome and now have the quick ratio steering with front and rear antiroll. Should do better this year.
