- Thanks, Jenny. I did an 'auto tempest' search for Monaco's earlier today and this one did not show up in that search. Asking price of $1,500 is very fair indeed. Just the one small pic ...

It looks like it's all painted white, bumpers, mirrors, trim. Wonder why just the one small pic?

I've called twice on this one today with no response and just emailed the owner, this and HOB 3's parts car would make one hell of a Bluesmobile.

I just bought this one over the phone, cashier's check going out tomorrow. It sounds like it needs a lot of stuff but is solid so I'm gambling on it.

- You sir, are a mover and a shaker Here's hoping 'whitey' makes it safely to your driveway. Haha, Whitey Ford the baseball pitcher? That Monaco is Whitey Dodge. Like srt440 mentioned it looks like it was spray bombed from bumper to bumper. Looking forward to pics of that paint job. Is it a tan interior?

- You sir, are a mover and a shaker Here's hoping 'whitey' makes it safely to your driveway. Haha, Whitey Ford the baseball pitcher? That Monaco is Whitey Dodge. Like srt440 mentioned it looks like it was spray bombed from bumper to bumper. Looking forward to pics of that paint job. Is it a tan interior? According to the 91 year old owner he took it to Affordable paint and body and had it painted, they masked the windows and painted everything, as he put it "it's easier that way", he brought it back every couple of years to have it resprayed, hopefully they didn't scuff the trim before spraying and some aircraft stripper will save it. It was an interesting conversation to say the least, he kept trying to tell me how I "don't want to buy this car" because of this problem or that problem, it's originally gold with a tan interior, he had the interior redone (to what quality or extent we didn't get into but he said it was perfect), the dash gauges don't work so there are gauges he had "the automobile electrician" mount hanging under the dash, one of the reasons "you don't want to buy this car", the horn stopped working so "the automobile electrician" mounted a button on the dash, another reason "you don't want this car", he had a remanufactured engine installed a few years ago, it's a 360 4 BBL, the trans was done last year. I ask him "does the car have any rust?" He answered "no" "Does it run good?", he answered "it runs perfect", I said "I'm sure I'll be happy with it, I'm sending you a cashiers check tomorrow, can I please have your address?" The conversation went on for about 45 minutes like that. Basically it's his regular car, he's selling it because it's just too big and he has trouble in parking lots with it. He's replacing it with a Ford Ranger pick up because it's smaller and easier to drive. He dented the left fender and had it "filled, but it's not perfectly smooth" and his wife got the right fender at some point. I'm keeping my fingers crossed but I figure the engine and trans, rust free body, how could I go wrong? I still have my rust bucket demo derby '74 for everything this car could possibly need and it won't take away from the parts HOB 3 needs. I didn't plan on another one but this was a good deal and would be a quick redo where HOB 3 is a major project. I hope it works out.

Just one shitty photo!?; you're crazy! But I suppose at the price it's hard to go wrong. You've definitely got to post up some photos for us when you get the car.

I paid damn near what I'll have invested in this entire car for the sheet metal to convert my '77 Royal I used to own to a '74, it's worth the gamble. Remember, I have HOB 3, a rot box '74, and my '75 Gran Fury police package, if nothing else it's a parts car or a derby guy would give me more than I paid including shipping.

- Haha, Whitey Ford the baseball pitcher? I was thinking Whitey Jackson, the albino from Foul Play (Chevy Chase, Goldie Hawn movie)

What a great story. I don't even *wash* some of my junk every few years, and he's getting resprays. Can't argue with the price though, especially if it spent its whole life in CA. Nice score!

The seller got the check today and my broker is just waiting for a truck to take the bid and it'll be on it's way.
