Was home with a sick kid today so I watched several movies from my youth, movies sure seem different when you're 47 instead of 10. There were a few '74 Monaco and '73 Polara police cars in this.

Tom Huff in the stunt credits. I would give anything to know Tom's personal opinion of the Monaco... He probably didn't think much about them, mid 70's cars were so watered down compared to cars made only 3,4, and 5 years before, they probably were just "props" to him. He probably had driven 427 Vettes, Hemis, possibly LS6 Chevelles or Stage 1 GSs, a big 5 year old Monaco probably wouldn't impress him much.

- Directed by Hal Needham! Not quite the success that Smokey and the Bandit was but this was a made for TV movie. And what a cast ... Shelly Hack - She would have joined Charlie's Angels not very long after this movie. Frank Gorshin - The original Riddler from Batman TV show. Peter Graves, Dinah Shore, George Hamilton Abe Vigoda - Abe was brought back to life for this movie but died again shortly after filming. Morgan Brittany - I had a crush on her, lol. She got married to Jack Gill who was the stunt co-ordinator on Knight Rider. And Hal even had a small part in the movie as Mr. Blanchard. Craig Baxley was the stunt co-ordinator and I figure he would have gone pretty well directly from this movie to being the stunt co-ordinator on the Dukes of Hazzard. This was released in '79 same year the Dukes began. You'll also see some of the same names in the stunt credits as in The Blues Brothers. And good ol' Tommy Huff, for sure Tommy was one of the go-to guys for truck stunts, he might have been the van driver in this movie, not sure about that though. Yeah, love these movies from the 70's and into the 80's. Fun looking at the cars, ain't it? - www.imcdb.org/movie.php?id=80601Only two pics of Mopar squads that I could see there at the IMCDb. These screenshots are not as clear as what we can see on youtube now and this Monaco is listed incorrectly as a '75 ... If anyone just wanted to see the action, youtuber, "Car Chase Wonderland" has provided an edited version of 29 minutes. Quite the channel if you like the old car chases, and he seems to upload vids with good picture quality ... As far as I know there was never an official DVD release of this movie, but you can find fan made DVD copies out there in the $10 range ... - www.ioffer.com/i/death-car-on-the-freeway-1979-dvd-tv-movie-thriller-605183792?i=263829842
