Oswego is known to some Chicago area residents for the town dragstrip, open from 1955 until 1979, where muscle cars were raced by drivers from all over the Midwest. The drag days are celebrated today even though the strip has been closed for decades.
There are some home movie type vids of dragging at Oswego, Super8 no audio shaky grainy lol, great cars in all the vids. This one shows some racing and a slice of Oswego life around the strip and stuff from 1974-'75 ...

Friday - August 5, 2016 Chicagoland Emergency Vehicle Show’s Lights and Siren Procession Staging begins at 5:30pm. Staging area TBA. The procession kicks off at 6:30pm, winding though the communities of North Aurora, Aurora, and Montgomery before passing through downtown Oswego. Emergency vehicle drivers and passengers will proceed to a private reception at the Oswego Fire Protection District Station 1.
Saturday - August 6, 2016 The 19th Annual Chicagoland Emergency Vehicle Show will be from 10am to 4pm on Main Street in downtown Oswego. The day will feature static displays of new and vintage emergency vehicles, live demonstrations of police, firefighting, and rescue operations, safety displays, children’s activities, and more. Sunday - August 7, 2016 A caravan of Emergency Vehicle departs Aurora at 9:30am from the AmericInn Lodge & Suites, 1050 Douglas Rd, Oswego, IL, and arrives at Naperville’s beautiful Centennial Park for a static display from 10am to 2pm in conjunction with the Naperville Sprint Triathlon and Naperville Police Department.
