Rust is no problem, No Engine/Trans is no problem. No interior? No Problem. We build race cars for 24 Hours of Lemons and want to do a Bluesmobile, but we want to do it right. My hunt has come up empty so far, anyone know of one for sale? Save one from getting crushed or derby'd and send it my way.
Thanks everyone.

Not yet, but soon... Probably in a 5.0 swapped fox body of some sort like a Zephyr or LTD. Gotta be different but reliable. I don't want to be one of those teams that spends the whole weekend swapping out a transaxle in a Morris or Renault or something equally butt turrible.

Great minds think alike. We normally run a fox-body Thunderbird, and just got IOE with our Renault.
Whatever you are doing right now, stop, and start doing LeMons. It's far and away the most fun you can have. A early, weird fox is great choice. Everything Mustang bolts on and the 5.0 is a solid LeMons engine.
Please keep my Monaco search a secret though. One of the last great themes that hasn't been done yet!

That is really ironic that you have a Renault! It wasn't the Fuego was it? I sorta like those horrible things. I'm a Fox guy as a primary hobby, I have a '93 Cobra that I bought new, a '92 LX 5.0 coupe daily driver, and a '80 Fairmont Futura coupe, (to nice for LeMons) future hot rod project. And a pile of parts. I think the perfect car would be a bustle-trunk early '80s Continental, (not sure what theme) or a Fairmont/Zephyr/LTD/Marquis woody wagon - as a blue mini Family Truckster. In Vacation, when Clark saw the Family Truckster, he said, "I distinctly ordered the Antarctic Blue Super Sports Wagon with the C.B. and optional rally fun pack." It was never shown, but I always pictured it to be Fairmont based. Don't out my project, and I won't out yours!
As you know, correct Monaco sedans are hard to find, and could get expensive to build. Not Speedycop expensive, but expensive. My brother, an airline pilot in Houston, wants to do LeMons with a few work friends, and he wants me to be on the team. Should be fun, I've met those pilots, and they are a rowdy gang to put it mildly. So it will be a mid-country event when it happens.

Yea, the Fuego was me. All I'll say is I'm glad we won the trophy so I can park that thing, what a wretched little car.
You have the right idea. Great themes are what the judges and organizers love. If you're really feeling brave, some of those Continentals came with BMW diesel power too! And since it was never revealed, you can be creative as you want. I remember Speedy had some Lou Glutz Motors dealer plates made for his Family Truckster, drop him an email and I'd bet he could hook you up. It's the details! Your secret is safe with me.

Came painfully close to buying Richard's 74 Monaco, but the price on this was more "Lemons friendly" and it was saved from a derby fate. Digging though the forum, I found a thread with a 74 police car in a junkyard a few hours from home so I was able to pull the nose off of it.
I do have an S6 from a P71 Crown Vic in my stash but I think the mount is different. Once I get all the parts together and I vacuum the last of the mouse turds from Fury, I'll start a build thread.

We picked up a 2000 Crown Vic here in Baton Rouge, LA two summers ago and hoped to get it done for the most recent Houston race, but the "Great Unnamed Flood of 2016" wiped out our car (and several of our house, garages, etc.) so we got rid of it. ===BUT=== we also racked our brains for a great / original theme, and when we read on the official Lemons pages that they were sick of Bluesmobiles, Bandits, General Lees, etc. we were really even more stumped. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a HUGE fan of The Brothers, but if you're thinking that you're going to be the first to get to the Office of the Assessor of Cook County in Bluesmobile livery and claim the best theme trophy and scholarship... Good Luck though! We still want to do a Lemons car / race, but some of our guys were hit pretty hard by the oil & gas market in 2015 and some jobs were lost (me, especially!) and the flood got some of our other guys houses, garages, daily drivers, tools, etc...... PS - I sold my Bluesmobile (like an idiot) last summer to a guy in Chicago who PROMISED to do fun things with it and to get it out to as many events as possible, but he's only driven it a couple of times since a year ago May, and has only done two events with it. And he won't sell it back to me.... If you run across a 74/75 Monaco that you're going to pass up, PLEASE call me or email me! johnvukovich(at)verizon.net Best regards!!!

We've trophied in 2 of the 3 races its run, but you're right, IOE is gonna have to come from a heroically high finish rather than the theme. The organizers have been clear, the Bluesmobile has been done. Sorry to hear of your loss. I can't overstate how much fun Lemons is, but I certainly appreciate how much it is a kick in the wallet. I've spent myself into oblivion on this nonsense. This '75 has been on craigslist for a while, and it's listed for sale on the board here too. I reached out to the guy as he *might* have the rear sway bar I'm looking for, but haven't heard anything back yet. Maybe I could pry it loose from you if you make a deal? washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/cto/d/1975-dodge-monaco-bluesmobile/6243739540.html
