Odd thing is police dont seem to look twice at our cars. I had a KITT trans am a while ago (knight rider) that had the t.v show correct plate on the back saying 'KNIGHT' no plate on the front either, two years and not one copper looked twice at it!!

A different world now with anpr cars all around! Yes I'd probably be ok with police "people" but not if they've got anpr cameras. BDR529 is owned but not registered over here so would flag up instantly I reckon. Sent from my SM-G900F using proboards

Wasn't sure what it meant so I looked up "anpr". OMG...Brave New World...! Wikipedia: "Automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) is a mass surveillance method that uses optical character recognition on images to read vehicle registration plates. They can use existing closed-circuit television or road-rule enforcement cameras, or ones specifically designed for the task. They are used by various police forces and as a method of electronic toll collection on pay-per-use roads and cataloging the movements of traffic or individuals."
Things are not that Orwellian here in Germany (yet), but since our license plates have a totally different shape and a different letter/number system than US- or UK-plates, it wouldn't be possible to stay unnoticed with BDR 529 plates here as well. Do you guys use magnetic or "clip-on" plates or anything like that? Sunny sunday everybody!

I guess we are lucky here in Illinois, in that we are allowed to drive classic cars with old period license plates. If you first purchase "antique plates" (which are pretty inexpensive and last for 5 years before needing to be re-registered), and keep them in the car with you, you can use antique plates on the road. www.cyberdriveillinois.com/publications/pdf_publications/vsd355.pdfPage 2 > Left side > Bullet point number 5. I've had the replica BDR plates on the car since day one, and have never been questioned about it.

Woohoo. Passed uk mot with flying colours. Paperwork finally sent to dvla so 2 to 6 weeks it'll be legally on the road! Been busy fixing all the broken speedo pins. I soldered 1mm tig wire inside the pins to make them stronger then soldered them to the board and blobs on back. All warning lights working now. While I had it in bits I polished the speedo plastic so can actually see it now and what gear! I also fitted an amplified hideaway aerial and fitted an auxiliary input to the radio so can now listen to Ipod that is tucked away in glove box.
