Thanks for the link to Brad's, Art....I'm going to try my round steel rollers from Martin first, to see if they work, in case they are a direct drop-in replacement; if they don't, I'll give Brad a shout-out and see if he has the actual square nylon versions in stock. Rob (PS: Since Martin is a Mopar guy, I shot off an email to ask him if they are replacements. )

I see > Weird...... > My 1976 parts book shows 3788198 I double-checked my 74,75,76,77 parts book, and they all show 3788198. I would have thought that the newer plastic sliders would be easier to find than the 74-only metal rollers, and I guess they are - on actual vehicles. It sure would seem that if there isn't a different part number in the catalogs, we'd be unlikely to find it on a parts-shelf somewhere. I wonder what Brad's will say on their 3788198 (metal or plastic).

Apparently, then , these must be the drop-in factory replacements...who knows: the nylons might have suffered from repeated splitting and/or exploding, and c-body owners and/or Mopar engineers decided a new metal design would solve this.

Rob I think we know the metal roller part pieces weren't a "new metal design" replacement for the plastic sliders, as the metal rollers came out in 74, and plastic sliders came out in 75. Here's my guess of the strange situation: ----------------- Ma mopar came out with the metal rollers in 1974. They put these on 1974 cars, and also packaged them as replacement parts. But these metal rollers were horrible (falling apart, costly, and generally not as good as sliding plastic in any category). So they switched to sliding plastic for 75-77 - on assembly line cars. But they never bothered to replace the "parts" part number, and they kept the rolling metal pieces for parts. ----------------- your friend in keeping up the guesswork, arthur

Sounds logical to me...I didn't realize the metal version preceded the nylon one. Greeaat....that means I'll have to keep thick grease gooped up on these babies, for them to work half-way efficiently. Rob
