Don't think there was a thread going on for this anywhere??? I've seen that spanks, and blusmbl have both brought monacos home on tow dollys. How did it work out for you guys? I know I'd have to do some carefull maneuvering, but other then that was it pretty straight forward? It will be a U haul tow dolly. I've used a tow bar before with my old newport, but not a dolly. I was gonna wait to post this... But I'm too damn excited!! I believe I found my new bluesmobile. Should be bringing her home tuesday, if all checks out. I havn't seen the car in person yet, but as long as it is as described, we'll be good to go. All the parts on my car will be transferred over to this one. Plus the big 440 on the stand! Shes a 360 car, I'm not giving out to much info just yet... It will be hard to rape, and pillage my car for parts, But.... this one shouldnt have any of that shit called rust!! (supposedly) We'll see.

Holy crap Zac, I don't know what to say. That is an awesome find but at the same time it's hard to imagine bailing on your current car after all the work and effort you have put into her. But I guess you are not bailing just shifting focus. As for the tow dolly, it is a simple process. Using a u haul you may have to play around and fudge what kind of car you are towing because u haul has some conservative weight restrictions depending on your tow vehicle. I have a buddy that owns a dolly so I am fortunate enought to be able to use it whenever I need it. I towed my complete North Carolina car home on a dolly with a 1/2 ton suburban with no issues or drama. I later towed a rolling shell home from Michigan with a 1988 Dodge 1/2 ton pickup with nothing more than a bumper hitch. The shell I towed home from Michagan was significantly lighter than the complete car. I don't know how far you will be traveling but I did disconnect the drive shaft in both cases just to eliminate any potential problems. It might be obvious but I always towed with the front wheels on the dolly and the rears on the ground. Good luck and kee us posted!
Does that car have a tan interior? I'm jealous.

Thanks Spanks! Yea, it is kinda hard letting go of the old car.. But as much rust repair as I'm looking at doing, Idk.. I've been working on her for 4 months now, and have barely made a dent. There is so much more to do, its not even funny. I've been toying with the notion of putting the royal front end on it, and making a Chicago cop car out of it... It's still not a done deal yet, so I'm not holding my breath.. Hopefully this car is as "clean" as the guy says it is. I'm a bit nervous when it comes to towing anymore, after my truck gave out on me the last go around! Should be good this time. Its a 3 hour trip. I'll bring all my tools, and a couple tire from my car just incase, and make sure to disconnect the drive shaft! The interior was Tan... Looks like this car was quite a hooptie at one point lol. My old interior will drop right in! I'll keep you guys updated!

Wow that interior is pretty bad. Towing should be fine. Just take it slow. I disconnected the drive shaft and tied it up with ratchet straps. I left the driveshaft in the trans so fluid wouldn't spill out going down the road. Just make sure you secure the drive shaft so it can't slip back and fall out of the trans.
Hold your ground when you look at the car, be prepared to walk if its not everything you need. I have bought too many cars with rose collored glasses. Looked great at the sellers house but discovered a train wreck when I got it home.

I think that sums up my thoughts. Wow. Your car was just so freakin' awesome! I'm impressed with your dedication. I know what its like to shift focus. It's a hobby, and if we're having fun, it's time and money well spent.

Looked great at the sellers house but discovered a train wreck when I got it home. Oh yea! I was talking with the guy over the phone, he kept explaining everything about the car. I told him specifically, all I care about is if the car has a clean tittle, and a SOLID rust free body. Hes supposed to be sending me some more pics today. Ill also shoot him a call tjis afternoon again. I've been burned on cars like that before.. Never again! lol

Who knows though, this could be a flop, and I might still be tackling the rust...

Nice find! I hope it turns out to be as solid as the guy says. Rust sucks! I am in the middle of trying to fix all the rust on mine, and although I am making progress as you were, there are other things I would rather be doing to the car than grinding and welding! Last summer when I built a new garage, I towed mine on a dolly about an hour away to a friends garage to store it for a while. It towed like dream. Tow dollies are so quick and easy, and affordable to rent, if you don't own a trailer or have a buddy with a tow truck. Good luck on the new one, hope it works out! I will gladly buy a drivers fender from you if you end up with an extra

- Wow, Zac! A 1977 Royal Monaco 4-door sedan without vent windows. What an awesome CPD clone that would make, and would sure look amazing chasing your Blumo . What would it take to get you to keep both? 5 grand? No problem, have it for you in the morning. * Note to self ... buy extra lotto ticket for tonight's draw

No worries on the lotto steam... Back to my ole rust bucket. What a waste of time, and $$. The car was 10x worse then my car. The trunk floor was made out of sheets of rubber, and held in place with fiberglass. Good lord!! lol

The car was 10x worse then my car. Well that sucks. Sorry to hear that, Zacmeister. It looked so promising in the pics you posted.

But the car was in a bad part of town, after telling him no we wern't sticking around. Yeah I know what you mean, we went and looked at a '77 Monaco police (the black rust bucket one with brown door jambs, I've seen pics on here somewhere of it)in Patterson, NJ. I ask the guy knowing that Patterson has some really bad parts if he was in a bad neighborhood and the guy said no he's in a good neighborhood so the old lady and kid came with me and we took the Magnum instead of the Crown Vic and ended up in the worst ghetto I've ever been in(including Bed Sty Brooklyn and Harlem)and it was night. I checked the car out and left. I probably would have made a low offer and gotten the car but I didn't want to stick around too long haggling.
