In a few years, I'm going to buy one of these. I love nearly everything about them.

Nice cars, we sold a fleet to the state through the dealer I work for. Very fast but no where near as heavy duty as the '98-'11 Crown Vics, the cops are going to destroy these cars. For example, my '06 Magnum R/T (same platform as the Charger) went through three tie rod ends, both outers and one inner by 36K, my last Crown Vic got new outers to replace the original tie rod ends at 192K and still had the original inners when I sold it at 195K.

I have been thinking the same thing, I'd like to have one of those. My uncle-in-law is on the local city council and he was telling me how they buy those cars and when they turn them over. He claims that on state contract they only pay about $25k for them new. They turn them over after 3 years and he claims they only depreciate about $5k because smaller towns want to buy them.

My best friend from college, who actually lives near Arthur, has been working on the Charger AWD program for the past couple years. He spends a lot of time at Grattan. They beat the hell out of those things. He tells me that wear out a set of tires every session and a set of brakes ever two sessions. He tells me that the AWD cars will smoke the RWD cars, plus most law enforcement agencies are buying the v6 because the v8 runs too good. They tell him (off the record of course) that the v8 is more than the average officer needs or can handle.

Most of the Chargers in the state contract that the dealership I work at delivered were V6s, but they were for the Dept. of finance and other Gov't offices. I don't know if any actually were to be marked state trooper cars, a lot of them had spotlights and other police goodies, some were 5.7 so called "Hemis". We also delivered a shit load of Police Package Durangos, V6 and V8s.
