Great Joliet Prison Break-In Set For August
The event will be Saturday, Aug. 25 and will include live music, entertainment and lots of food. Chamber officials said they are in the process of landing a Blues Brothers tribute band. Joliet Chamber President Mary Jaworski said they could easily accommodate between 4,000 and 5,000 people, but they decided to cap the number of tickets at 3,000.
An announcement on how to purchase tickets for the event should be forthcoming in the early part of June.
We know Dan would stop there, Binny's is mentioned several times in the vodka signing thread, although it doesn't appear Dan is doing too many signings anymore. But this Joliet location would be a perfect stop for a signing. Elwood and Zee could do a gig at Joliet prison. Get the band back together, as best they can ...

- That "Break-In Bash" is happening right now! There's booze at the party and a special drink is available called, "Prison Blues." I have no idea what's in that drink, maybe SCMODS is having one as I type!
I didn’t make it to this event because I was rushing to meet Cynot in Orland Park for the car show featuring a Jim Morrison cover band and the main event...The Blues Brothers. I’ll check out the Joliet paper tomorrow and post the article. Yes, that mural is a few blocks south of the prison on Collins Street. A few blocks from that is coincidentally Elwood Street.

- Some pics from da Patch ...
Safe to say, there appeared to be at least 3,000 adults inside the Old Joliet Prison to witness and participate in a huge milestone event for the city of Joliet. This was history. And this place was filled with excitement.

- They've made amazing progress and done amazing things at Joliet Prison this year. This next news item is like some common sense saying, ok, take it easy a bit now lol. They were considering trying to build the haunted house in 3 weeks?? I dunno, but this is not bad news at all, just news ...

2nd Annual Great Joliet Prison Break-In: Got Your Tickets Yet?
This month's event, a fund-raiser for ongoing restorations, will feature more food vendors, more live music and longer hours.
Now, it's almost time for the second annual Great Joliet Prison Break-In. On Saturday, August 24, the event inside the prison yard goes from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Music performers will be: Great Moments In Vinyl, Hot Mess, The Ides Of March and Nikki Hill Band.
There's a mini-documentary uploaded last month about the artists who went into the "Burnt District" to salvage some stuff for artwork.
In this drone footage, also from last month, as the drone begins its slow ascent you can clearly see the Burnt District on the left side ...
Here's the concert from the Break-In (August 24). It's good, different cameras and angles, some interviews and stuff between the bands. Hot Mess is a cover band from Boston and they were doing some Led Zeppelin tunes . There's some good Blues stuff, too. I guess it was streamed live and I forgot to post the link for that but here's the video, 6 and a half hours!

- Might see Dan at Joliet next summer.
Dan Aykroyd Meets With Old Joliet Prison Staff For Q&A The prospects of the "Blues Brothers" star making a visit to Joliet in 2020 are looking more promising than ever.
Joliet museum director Greg Peerbolte, special events coordinator Liz McNeil and "Blues Brothers" legend Dan Aykroyd.
Also this year, the Joliet museum began partnering with Aykroyd's Crystal Head Vodka for its prison events. Crystal Head Vodka was one of the specialty drinks offered in late August at the second annual Great Joliet Prison Break-In festival.
2020 marks the 40th anniversary of "The Blues Brothers." Several scenes were filmed at the Old Joliet Prison, which was built in 1858, before Abraham Lincoln became president. Next summer, the Joliet Area Historical Museum is planning to throw a major party to commemorate the 40th anniversary of "The Blues Brothers."

- The Blooze Brothers had their Blumo at the Joliet party this summer. If we get a confirmed date for Dan being there in 2020 we'll start a Joliet thread in the yet to be created "Bluesmobile Meetings 2020" category. Maybe a few more cars would show up for good ol' Elwood himself.
Timing would be great if Dan at Joliet coincided with Bluesmobile night at Cruise Nights. And everything was organized around the 1980 release date of the movie, June 20th which is a Saturday in 2020 !
