I certainly had no intention of calling you dumb. It's the old "bird in the hand" analogy of thinking that something you have is worth more than it actually is. I didn't mean to offend, by any stretch of the imagination, I just answered honestly about value.
The fact of the matter is that these cars RUST. I had a 42,000-mile '75 that was already rusting away from years in a driveway/garage, much less the woods. I also had been picking parts off of a police-package '75 in a local salvage yard that has NO flooring or lower fenders left. Dodges from this era are known for and highly susceptible to rust, so it quickly destroys panels that are nearly impossible to replace.
I'm with you there on the engine "refresh" for that matter. With the RUNNING 440 I have for my build, I decided that I wanted to redo everything and, short of boring the engine out, it got all new parts. Every bearing, performance cam, upgraded intake (that I have to replace due to hood clearance) and new anything that bolts to it. I even did the same with the 350 I just put into my '73 El Camino because it's the RIGHT way to do an engine swap...
This car could be restored, but it may only serve as a parts car. I'm always apt to hope for restored over parts, as there are too few of these cars left as-is.

No offense taken LV. I just thought of popping the trunk while I was typing that post and was kicking myself. I couldn't agree with you more about what you say on these cars. You have a 73 Elcamino? Thats my favorite year on those. I had one long ago. Why do we chose to love cars that are prone to rust with little to no aftermarket support? Yeesh! Being from Detroit originally I know about rust. My brother-in-law bought a '68 Charger (318 car) brand new and by the time he had it paid for (3years back then) it was rusted so bad you could throw a cat through the quarters from being up there. I think even by some chance a person gets a Monaco that is nearly rust-free,they better disassemble it and rust-proof it as best they can. Those hidden places around the firewall/cowl will,, a..well, let me just say the rust "cometh as a thief in the night"

Also,an update on the windshield! I got it out without damaging it. It's a little cloudy around the bottom and has a little wiper rash on the right side but that is "sauce for the goose" on a Bluesmobile. The back glass should be easy to remove as well. It's a defrost and is in good shape. $50 for both. You just can't beat that folks!

I'm one of them; though, I'm more concerned with shipping it to me... Seriously if you need the windshield LV, and it doesn't sell on ebay I will set it aside and some day if you can figure out how to get it ,its yours. I would suggest a road trip in the car you intend to put it in (assuming it will make it) and then I will help you take the old one out and put this one in. Bring the stuff to do it with and a few beers BTW.

J/K I never expressed interest in the headlight buckets or tires... I still have two spare tires from my '74 in stock size, as opposed to my police-sized '74 wheels from my Brougham that I saved. Though, I do like the idea of a road trip to pick up the windshield; that's my kind of fun.

Ah. I just didn't want someone who needs the parts to think that I was buying them. In any case where I'm buying a part for my personal collection, I always yield to someone who needs it for their car.
