Hmm, just been trying to dig some info up on this dodge. Seems it is registered as a 76 model year. 400 (6.6 liter) engine. I'm in the u.k and have never seen this one before.

Sounds to me like it's someone who heard something wrong and believed it. No matter what aspect of the classic car profession or, especially the movie replica hobby, this always happens and there are always unscrupulous people who pass off their replicas as the original.

That is Jake Dark's car. (AKA: The Wiki BluMo) Red interior and all. That poster has been trying to defend their claims for quite a while now. "...each of those cars had different interior, one of those was like this one." One of those was like this one? That means nothing. That whole story (whatever the source) is a crock.

Here is one that has eluded me for years.... Many here have probably seen this photo, taken in 2001: www.flickr.com/photos/roadtripmemories/3032440182/sizes/m/in/photostream/It was photographed in Downers Grove , IL. Well, just recently, I came across this photo... It was taken in Downtown Chicago, just this last summer (2011). A full 10 years after the photo shown above. Knowing that this car actually still exists, inspired me to finally track down it's location. But, by doing so it has reminded me of the one and only aspect of this hobby that (virtually) pisses me off. ...Blatantly lying about a replica being one of the original screen used Bluesmobiles. www.bigfunband.com/jake_elwood/car.html(First sentence... first paragraph) . Hey TK, I met those guys back when I worked at the pier. The Jake was real cool, cant say so much for the Elwood leader guy. I told him I had a car and was painting it and he came off, well I'm going to say it, Like a Dick. Oh yeah, he says Is it it a Hardtop? My car was so new to me I didnt know what a hardtop was, so I said yeah, which did piss me off. Obviously he was looking for a way to fuck w/ me, and he did just brush me off. Turns out they had a hardtop for long time prior says the Jake, like I said he was cool. Back when I got pulled over in Wheaton or what ever the hell that was, the cop thought I was him, the Elwood guy is on some board for the township, maybe mayor I dont remember. Those guys I will say put on a huge show, it's more like corporate style though, why? BIg fuckin bucks to pay what they got goin on. So many band musicians and other guests playing as other blues stars from the movie it would make your head spin. They got shit all over the place. It's Huge man, w/out a doubt. Are Jake and Elwood real close to being on, cant remember for sure, but whole show was a 10. They know what they are doing when it comes to a show, but if the Elwood claimed it was an authentic car? I dont doubt it, he's a DICK! Dont be mad if you read this JerkFace, cause you know. I was honest and said it was the best friggin all around show Ive ever seen, for sure. john

Well at least they are doing something right.
It's just too bad that they/ he can't stand on that alone and have to throw out a major falsehood about their car. My belief is that if you don't want to admit that your movie car is a replica...just don't say anything. Some will believe it is original, and some won't.
But to deliberately lie about it is another story.
* And, for the longest time, I too didn't know the meaning of hardtop. I had thought it meant "not a convertible".
I knew the old Thunderbird's had a top that could be removed (which is what the Monaco hardtop is trying to emulate), but I had always referred to them as simply "Removable Roofs".
Of course I now know true convertibles did/ do come in two forms: Ragtop.. and Hardtop.
I guess technically the Monaco hardtop is in fact a "simulated" hardtop.

The "BC Booze Brothers" had a great weekend. They're at every Grey Cup (Canadian Super Bowl ) and this year it was in BC so they got to bring their Blumo to the parade, which is the day before the game. 1973 Monaco. - "Thousands of people line the streets in the pouring rain for the Grey Cup Parade before the B.C. Lions vs Winnipeg Blue Bombers final, in Vancouver, B.C. The B.C. Booze Brothers drag an effigy of Blue Bombers quarterback Buck Pierce behind their car in the Grey Cup parade in Vancouver on Saturday." - And BC won 34-23. That was the 99th Grey Cup, big one next year in Toronto.

This 1976 Monaco pic is from a Houston craigslist ad in 2006 - Sky blue and cloud white . I seem to recall the pic, I don't really remember the Dodge, more the paint job lol. Was it ever determined if it was an actual police cruiser as the ad mentioned, or just an interesting clone ? www.mopartech.net/showthread.php?t=1903

A great sight to behold!
I guess the cats outta the bag, I sold the bluesmobile to this Great Guy, name? Hotdog. We'll leave it at that. He's a Mason in the Lodge I joined a few years ago, A Shriner and in the Motorcorp for the Shriners as well. If anybody knows Him, it's that he does lots of charity work, the man is incredible, God Bless him. Also that he is always Santa at the front of the Chicagoland Toys for Tots parade. I had to do work yesterday to help a friend w/ a garage roof, so I missed the parade entirely this year, But I hear from sources My car was seen, Bless my Friends too, but its not my car anymore! Ha! In this vi'd you'll also see his ford river grove cop car, and his Fire engine before the Bluesmobile, I'm not sure how many firetrucks he owns! Ha! He must be very proud of it, cause he had it up at the front before the bikes!
Thats Hotdog driving the motorcycle at 0:46 Like I said, I had alsways wished to sell that car here, but Hotdog deseves it, he will be spending the next many days distributing toys from the parade as Santa. Makes me proud to see the car in his hands.

Those are good finds, but... "You can blow up your cheeks, you can stick out your chest... ...but you're not going to fool the guesser!" [from "The Jerk"] The first one was originally owned by "jamiemcf" (Same BBC member that sold the Marin cruiser to sig) Then by BBC member "MDiepenmaat" (in the Netherlands)... and finally to it's new owner, another unnamed resident in the NL. The second one is so famous it goes unmentioned The third one is owned by one of the latest members of this board... "mrsblues".
