As much as I don't want to... I'm considering selling my 1971 Plymouth Road Runner that I've owned for just over 26 years (not kidding.).
The car is a nice "restification" and Catherine "Daisy Duke" Back has also ridden in and autographed this car at Dukesfest back in about 2000 or so.
It was a pretty boring 383 column shift, bench seat A/T "no options" car, and the previous owner replaced the 383 with a 440 and swapped the trans for another one, so the numbers don't match and the original 383 is long gone.
The car was originally "Bahama Yellow" (Butterscotch - ACK!) and we had it painted "Lemon Twist" yellow since we hated the original color AND the car would never be 100% original / stock ever again anyway...
When I worked for Mopar City, I began to add factory options to the car, but ONLY factory options that would have been correct for a 1971 Road Runner, like the Rim Blow steering wheel, Air Grabber Hood, Tachometer equipped instrument cluster, AM/FM stereo radio AND the super rare "hump mounted" cassette player/recorder, dual mirrors, Rallye wheels, pedal dress ups, 3 speed wipers...
I also rebuilt the front suspension and upgraded it to disk brakes from a 73-74 Barracuda because the "correct" 1971 disk brake rotors are over $200 EACH...
The engine is a 1972 440 with a .509 cam and ported & polished 452 heads (since they come with hardened valve seats from the factory). I've been told that the guts of the 727 transmission are "Hemi" components (4 pinion planetaries, etc.) but I cannot guarantee that as the shop that rebuilt it is now gone and I don't have any photos or receipts to prove it.
The car is pretty clean, and it has been stored indoors for most of its adult life, and the paint is something like 23 years old, but some of the minor rust and bubbles are making their presence known once again.
I also have a LOT of spare parts for this car, including a 1971 Satellite unibody that I cut up "just in case" mine was ever hit or needed something major like a frame rail. I also have spare instrument clusters, a front bumper, 2 front fenders that are a little rusty, but "North Carolina rusty" and NOT "Ohio rusty"..
I can email you a lot of photos of the car if you like, or a YouTube video of it, and you can hear it running. Either way.
I have a clean title of course, and the VIN and data plate is all intact, however I have never found a broadcast sheet anywhere in the car. The only places that they hide and I haven't been (yet) are above the gas tank and above the headliner.
I'm asking $22,000 for the car (no trades) and I can deliver it most anywhere in the US on my (open) car trailer.
