The shot came after Mrs. Murphy said shit. The one of Lou getting in the car comes before. But maybe they felt one cut away shot was enough in that brief period.

Hi Flcl: Are you saying that in your VHS copy of the movie, the following sequence happens: 1) blue lou gets in the car: 2) then Mrs. Murphy says "shit". 3) Then the bluesmobile drives away. If so, that movie is different than the regular movie [edit: different than either the DVD regular movie, or the DVD director's cut movie] Are you then saying: 3a) the driveaway sequence is the same as this sequence: or 3b) the driveaway sequence is different than the pic above. If 3b, then not only is the editing different on the VHS movie, but also the actual footage is different. Do you have a DVD of the movie and can compare the VHS and DVD regular/directors cut for this scene, and verify that the VHS is different? your friend in being excited about possible new footage or film edits, arthur

That picture looks like the right shot, but I don't remember seeing Lou actually getting in the car. I'll go back and check.

I think that the shot of the Blumo driving away is the only thing that is in the shorter (theatrical) version and -not- in the extended version. In the shorter version, all is calm on the street as they're driving away, but in the extended version, there is commotion with John Lee Hooker and his band "fighting" over who wrote "Boom Boom."

Ahhh, thanks for the info. I think I have my scenes out of order in my scene/jpg extracted file system. I didn't think that "boom boom" part happened after lou's exit. I need to put the actual DVD in the player and check out those two scenes (and start calling the movies by their correct names: theatrical version and extended version).

I didn't think that "boom boom" part happened after lou's exit. The conflict over who wrote "Boom Boom" started when Jake and Elwood entered the Soul Food Cafe, but it was still going on when Lou ran out to the Blumo.

Right on. I checked the theatrical version, and extended version, and think this is the assessment: theatrical 1a) Blue Lou runs through diner to door 1b) doesn't show Lou outside 1c) Mrs. Murphy says "shit" 1d) Blumo driving away, without "boom boom" commotion 1e) next scene: Curl up and dye extended: 2a) Blue Lou runs through diner to door 2b) shows Lou running through "boom boom" commotion, and entering blumo through rear passenger door. 2c) Mrs. Murphy says "shit" 2d) next scene: Curl up and dye I think this is the only scene in the movie where the theatrical (non-extended) version shows any blumo footage that isn't in the extended version (the footage described in 1d).
