What is the difference between the 74 Sedan and the 74 Custom Monaco? Different price class. The Custom was in between the Base and the Brougham so yeah different options and stuff like that. The 2nd letter in the VIN is the price class - DM is for the base Monaco (M=Medium) - DH is for the Custom (H=High) - DP for the Brougham (P=Premium) - DK (Police) - DT (Taxi) - DL is for the Canadian "Special" (L=Low?) Each model has a 4-door sedan, in 1974 there were approximately 9,000 Monaco 4-door sedans(DM), 12,600 Custom(DH) and 4,000 Brougham(DP). I don't think we have numbers for the DL, DK, or DT. The Brougham is certainly fancier but there's not much difference between the Monaco and the Custom as far as I know. The little chart below says bright body side mouldings for the Monaco and vinyl insert body side mouldings for the Custom. Little things like that and what have ya.

^ I'll see what I can find. The 'Custom' script should be visible on the C-pillar ... Seems a bit low in that illustration? There are different 'Custom' scripts out there for different makes/models but I believe this is what it should look like for a 1974 Monaco ...

Perfect. I think this is the right one and it does look a little low. But the best picture I could find was this I also see there aren't bumperettes on the rear, was the Bluesmobile a custom then? lol

Thanks! By the way, every one of these pictures helps me immensely in building the 3d model. They're all little pieces of one big puzzle. I'm going for what might as well be THE most accurate model on the internet, trying to get down to every last screw, nut, and bolt! I could sell the models and I might have my own personal uses for it in the future in my animation project. I hope if I get enough of these bits and pieces it will be movie studio quality.

Anyone feel like breaking out a yardstick? I need to know the height of a Monaco. I've read 54.8 inches online, but I think that's from the ground up and I want to know from the bottom of the car to the top.
(Also if anyone has a '68-'69 Charger I could use the same height measurement. And still looking for a pic of a tow hitched Monaco or at least where one would be bolted on.)

Anyone got pics of a tow hitch on a 74 Monaco? Have you been going through the old 'for sale' threads? I know some have had the trailer hitch but I'm sure you're after a better pic than this ... That was the best hitch shot from that particular thread. There's no hitch assembly pics in the '74 Trailering brochure.

Thanks Steam! No, I've been all over Google images and haven't seen one. I can see how it's bolted to the bumper here. Now what I can do is find a hitch that matches in Google images and when I add it to the 3d model I'll know if it goes back to the body and where. (just started looking through there, already found a few useful ones!) After searching around, I think the hitch mounts are similar to this one. I think there would be enough space between the bumper and body for the body mount arm.

What style doors would a police Monaco have? Did all customs have power windows/locks? I feel like there was a thread about door options, but the pictures are all gone.
