Figured I would share how I made my chesterfield cigarette packs for the dash...
You can still find vintage packs, and cartons of chesterfield cigarettes for sale online-
www.internationaltobaccoonline.com/chesterfield-cigarettes-c-74.html
However, if you are a cheap ass like me, you don't want to spend that kind of money haha.
I paid a visit to fellow member jeff (blusmbl) and picked up some parts from him, and he was kind enough to throw in some un-used chesterfield wrappers fresh from the factory, never put on a pack.
Today I gave it a try and made them into used packs of smoke's. Funny how we are trying to salvage garbage from way back when! lol
Here is what you will need (for what I did),
-Glue
-scissors
-razor blade
-1 soft pack of cigarettes
-1 hard pack of 100's cigarettes
For once, luckily I'm a smoker!! haha I had all of what was needed, except for the regualr soft pack of smoke's. I smoke hard pack 100's, so had plenty of packs to scavenge.
I went and got a soft pack, thinking "oh this will be easy, all I need to do is glue the chesterfiel label onto the new package". However I got home only to discover the chesterfield's are even shorter then the regular pack. So this would'nt work.
This is when I had to get a little creative. I took the chesterfield wrapper and wrapped it around the soft pack, and glued the ends together.
I then carefully slip the wrapper down a bit, as to give me something to fold the bottom onto, then glue into place.
Now set this aside to let dry for a bit, and grab the hard pack of 100's
Carefully dismantle the pack, pull the tin foil out, but don't tear it as you will need it. This pack gave me trouble, and tore the foil, no problem though, just go grab another pack.
Now this part takes some time... Use the razor blade to carefully cut the hard pack into sheets, used to glue to the inside of the chesterfield wrapper to give it some stability. Here you see one of the side walls, and the bottom piece.
Gently pull the soft pack out of the chesterfield wrapper, and glue in the bottom piece.
Next glue in the walls
Set aside to let the glue dry for a bit, while it is drying, grab your scissors, and tin foil and cut the foil to size. This is supposed to be a used pack, so only has to cover half of the top. After cutting, and a few trial fits, glue the foil into the pack. This is the hardest step, as the glue takes a while to bond to the foil, and is not easy to get to cooperate
Then fold and glue, until you get your desired look. This also takes a while, and I am still trying to perfect.. The only bad thing is, these packs are missing the center foil piece which goes from front to back over the top (usually has a design in it)
Finally take the plastic outer wrapper from the hard pack 100's cigarettes, and this will fit perfectly onto you new pack of chesterfield smoke's. The plastic wrapper is a bit wider then the new chesterfield, but this makes it easier to slide on, and is static, and tight enough to stay on.
There you have it, a brand new pack of un-used/"used" chesterfield smoke's. Even better these are technically a hard pack now, so the pack should hold up a bit better lol.
Cost=$5.45-for the soft pack of smoke's to use as a template. Hell you even get another pack of smoke's when your done! If your a smoker, can't complain about that lol
I picked up some magnets there to help them cling to the dashboard.
Hopefully someone get's something from this lol.
