Oh, wow. I'm glad I got a chance to see it last year on the way to CEVS with Country Bunker and 177Ellwood.
From the link in the previous post:

That's a pretty cool piece of memorabilia.

That's a pretty cool piece of memorabilia. Here's a pic: from: www.flickr.com/photos/mikebrown3506/773596995/Dixie Square Mall - Harvey, Illinois When Dixie Square was open, this store was not originally a Toys R Us. This store was originally a Walgreens, but was "dressed up" as Toys R Us for the movie "The Blues Brothers" in 1979. This sign was still there until someone removed it in 2006. This was one of the last pieces left behind by "The Blues Brothers" production staff some 27 years ago. The lights on the other side of the wall were part of what was one of many failed attempts to properly remove asbestos from the mall. Asbestos abatement was in progress when this photo was taken on November 20th, 2005. And as of November 2008, nearly 3 years later, asbestos abatement is still only about 20% complete throughout the whole mall. --------------- Here's the for-sale thread about it on BBC: www.bluesbrotherscentral.com/forum/topic/3644-the-toys-r-us-sign-is-for-sale-on-ebay/---------------

How did you guys get in there? Just cut through the police station lot, across the helipad, and you're there. There was more fencing than shown in this overhead view, but the gate was wide open. your friend in blues brothers adventures, arthur

I'm sure most of us have seen this behind the scenes footage of the filming in the mall, but it's on youtube so I figured I'd post it here. It's from the special features on the DVD. - -

I live 15 minutes from where the mall used to stand and I would drive by it at least twice a month. I was sad to see it get torn down before I finished my car, to get pics in front of Pennys. Oh well, it looks like Daley Plaza will have to do, as long as I finish my ride before they decide to demo that!
