I have been searching for info on the sure grip with hopes of figuring out if Arthur's SG in his Fury, shown above, is rebuild able. What I have found, if I got this correct, is that there is a clutch type and a cone type both called a Sure Grip. Visually, it is hard to tell the difference. Arthur, do you know for sure this is a clutch type? This link here shows a cone type, but it looks a lot like what you have. www.mopar1.us/axle/sm03b.html The cones or clutches are behind the side gears on both types and the springs keep pressure on the respective sides. From what I can tell, both are rebuild able. The clutch type is easier to do by the average guy, where the cone type may need some machine work possibly making it economically not repairable. For my build I was thinking of using one of these, www.yukongear.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProdID=9643 it is from Yukon Gear, the price is reasonable and it should give me the performance I need for a mild to moderate 440 with a 3.55 gear without sacrificing driveablity or reliability. My 9.25 came with a open differential so I have to buy something anyway. The True trac is a sweet unit, I have used them in the past and I think it is right on the money for Arthur's car, for a lower powered street car I think the Dura Grip is right on.

> [Arthur said] Here's a pic of the clutch-type suregrip on my Cop Fury: ...there is a clutch type and a cone type both called a Sure Grip. Visually, it is hard to tell the difference. Arthur, do you know for sure this is a clutch type? No. Not only am I not sure, I see now that I had basis for claiming that. I was looking at these pics: bluesmobiles.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=gotopost&board=maintenance&thread=692&post=4258and thought I saw some differences. I'll poke around inside and see if I can get some evidence for cone or clutch. thanks, arthur
