I'm not sure what's up with those Duke's cars.
Maybe they were made in a lesser quantity, or perhaps there are more DoH fans out there than I had thought, but the price on those has even surpassed the Mt.Prospect squads and the plain Black and White version.
(Although they are starting to run a close second)
I would suggest that if anyone is still looking for the White Dukes version, to search for an online die-cast dealer, and steer clear of eBay. Many places are out of stock, but when you do find one, it should be a lot less then at the bay.

Automotive swap meets are a good place to look for die casts as well.

the long-awaited 1:18 CPD Monaco from ERTL: Geez it ain't cheap, eh. $79.95 at policecarmodels and also at Amazon ... www.amazon.com/Ertl-Dodge-Monaco-Chicago-Police/dp/B007TM0PW0The reference pic they're using is of the 1:64 Greenlight. - At diecastmusclecars.com they have a pre-order price of $72.95 and they mention a production number of 750 or less with an October 2012 release date. The manufacturer is listed as "Auto World / Silver Screen Series" which I assume are the people who worked with ERTL on this one? Not sure, but here's the cool reference pic they have at their site ... www.diecastmusclecars.com/moviecarscoming.htm

Was it because they were in the middle of changing color schemes? This page copcardotcom.fotki.com/photographs_of_greg/chicago-police-vehicles/chicago-police-vehi/1974dodgemonaco-5.html#mediasays of the 1974 CPD Monaco: > last year of the blue cars and > In 1974 most of the pre-white (blue/white) CPD cars have no siren > mounted on the Mars bar... I'm guessing that the large blue bottom paint scheme was the old scheme that ended in 1974, and the stripe version started in 1974.

The top photo is in fact an original vintage photo.
It is a shot of the first prototype car used to test out what would become the new color scheme. The colors were changed to Red White and Blue in preparation for the upcoming US bicentennial in '76.

Any recent word on the CPD Monaco? It's still on the pre-order page of policecarmodels.com. For a while it said "3rd quarter 2012."
