Here: bluesmobiles.proboards.com/post/12267Spanks asked about the front outboard passenger weight detection switches: and SD.kfz.400 posted this video about the entire system: Incredible video, SD. Freakin' sweet! What a blast watching those videos from back in the day. Ma Mopar even had a "Seat Belt Interlock System Analyzer":

So is this saying the seat belt thing only applies to federal vehicles or it was a federal requirement?

So did Elwood disable it? Maybe it wasn't standard in police packages. Would have been a bitch to hop in the car for a high speed chase and go thru that routine.

Maybe it wasn't standard in police packages. Would have been a bitch to hop in the car for a high speed chase and go thru that routine. I think everybody had it. This pic from the OP is Marin County: That's the interlock bypass, shown here in the video: It also had the sensors under the seat, and the control module under the dash. So did Elwood disable it? I can't imagine that a police force would require their officers to go through all those hoops to start their car. Surely every cop Monaco in the country had this disabled quickly after it was received from the factory. In the bluesmobile universe, I think it was disabled long before Elwood got it.

I'm surprised Chrysler wasted their time putting them in police package cars but I guess they had to meet federal standards police car or not. As you said I'm sure they were disabled, that could cause a life or death situation for a cop.
